Cross Country Star Klæbo Chased and Bitten by Dogs During U.S. Forest Training with Girlfriend

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo had a harrowing experience during a training session in a forest in the USA with his girlfriend, Pernille Dösvik. He recounted the ordeal, saying, "I was close to my maximum heart rate, and I almost died of fright." Fortunately, the 26-year-old world champion and Olympic champion managed to escape the incident with minor injuries.

Kläbo explained, "There were two big dogs that didn't like the sound of roller skating. They ran after us."

After some time, he then stopped on his ski scooters and extended his hand to the animals to show that he was friendly. But that was the wrong strategy.

"I tried to make friends with them, but didn't help - they bit my fingers," revealed the Olympic freestyle team jumping champion from PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022.

His pulse had shot up dramatically in fear for his life. But then the situation relaxed, the animals did not bite further. "They quickly realized, fortunately, that I was not dangerous," he said.

KLÄBO: "FORTUNATELY NOT FILMED".

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old takes the incident with humor: "Fortunately, I was not filmed. I would have been embarrassed."

At the end of April, Kläbo had left the Norwegian national team because of announced savings and injured his thigh at the beginning of August. However, he has since overcome this injury.

Despite the dog bites, he remains undeterred. The upcoming 2023/24 cross-country skiing season is set to commence on November 24, 2023, in Ruka, Finland.
